I began my solo private psychotherapy practice in Bethesda, MD over forty years ago. I now practice in Chestertown, MD and work with clients on both sides of the Chesapeake Bay.
My interest in the resilience and determination of those hindered by life’s constraints began early in my life. I was excited to discover, through an elective college course, that my early interests constituted a professional course of study. Psychotherapy provided me with a kaleidoscopic perspective of the internal and interpersonal worlds of clients, encouraged me to grow myself, and set the path for my life’s work helping others.
The path to secure and satisfying connections within ourselves and with others comes with challenges that often reflect multi-generational family secrets, personal and societal difficulties, and traumatic incidents. We often carry “unknown” inherited family narratives of loss, addiction, financial difficulty, physical and mental illnesses, injury, and personal and social difficulties, that cause feelings of isolation, uncertainty, and weariness. Working with a therapist can allow you to unpack the puzzle pieces that make these confusing “unknown” feelings, known. Making room for “knowing” develops the emotional understanding and well-being that supports collaboration, cooperation, and connection in all our relationships.
Giving back to my Regional and National Associations has enriched my life. At the regional level, I served on the Mid-Atlantic Group Psychotherapy Society’s (MAGPS) Board of Directors, as their newsletter editor, webmaster, Cinema Series chair, and membership trainer. At the national level, my services to the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) included leadership on the Group Foundation Board and Scholarship Committee. As a member of their Annual Institute Faculty, I had the opportunity to train clinicians from around the world.
As a LCPC-M Supervisor and a Washington School of Psychiatry (WSP) trained Supervisor, I help beginning and experienced practitioners expand their skills with clinical supervision and consultation.
I am a private-practice clinician licensed in multiple disciplines and certified specialties. My services include individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, and group psychotherapy. I also provide individual supervision and consultation, and group supervision to mental health clinicians.
My professional specialties provide a multifaceted lens for the treatment and management of emotional injury.
In my work with adults, I address personal, professional, and relationship issues.
I support personal growth, well-being, and resilience.
